Today Marco and I took our French American friends to San Gimignano and Siena. It was an extremely hot day for a picnic but under the shade of a big tree , the vineyard of a farm, and the beautiful landscape, our senses were hypnotized ignoring our sweaty bodies while enjoying tuscan delicacies.
After we had our picnic we head up to San Gimignano that was just around the corner from our spot. Right away the kids were mesmerized by the Medieval town. When had two breaks while there, one for the famous cookies, and the second one for the word wide famous gelato. While sitting at the steps of the cathedral enjoying our gelato, all of the sudden the sound of drums invaded the square. We were wondering what was going on and to our surprise a beautiful bride was walking into the square followed by a band dressed in medieval customs. A tour of Asian people started to snapped photos to her while her father was approaching her to bring her into the cathedral. I was able to snap some photos from were I was sitting. Right after that we did our final stop to a church that is now a shop of amazing goodies from San Gimignano. As always we bought a lot of things to bring back home!

Siena welcomed us with another parade of pure passion and pride! The week before its famous Palio had taken place in the beautiful Piazza del Campo that has the shape of a scallop shell. A young guy explained to us that the Contrade or Districts, parade into each others district to be seen! All the streets in Siena were decorated with lamps that represented the seventeen Contrade of Siena. The Contrade have as symbols animals such as the elephant, the goose, the turtle, etc.
As we walked to the Cathedral square we witness another wedding! This time the bride and groom were already married, and were now posing for their wedding album while passing tourists were snapping photos of the couple. At the top of the steps of the cathedral there was a group of young men celebrating a their friends last day of being single by getting the signature of women that passed them by. At some point the newlywed bride asked them to be part of her wedding photos. I loved it! Italy's charm was unfolding right into our eyes like a film.
Then we went o have a healthy dinner at a gourmet shop similar to Dean & Deluca. We had anchovies, cheeses, salad, prosciutto, focaccia, and fruits.
It was an intense and beautiful day spent with friends. When we got home we decided to pened a bottle of prosecco while talking about our day and making plans for the next day.
